Papers are now being solicited for "Northeast Asia during the Cold War: Security and Development," a conference to be held at Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China, in September 2015.

Conference Theme:

Northeast Asia is one of the most economically dynamic, yet politically sensitive regions in the world. Many legacies of the Cold War continue to weigh heavily on the region, and influence political and social developments today. This conference seeks to review Northeast Asia and the Cold War, demonstrating the region's importance to the origins of the Cold War and the impact of the Cold War on politics, economics, and society.

Conference Topics:

1. The origins of the Cold War and the political choices of the Northeast Asian countries;
2. The Korean War and the origins of the Cold War;
3. China’s Northeast and its border relations with its neighbors during the Cold War;
4. The regional security of Northeast Asia during the Cold War;
5. Archival research of Northeast Asian issues during the Cold War.

Procedure:

Interested scholars should send their academic bio (in both Chinese and English, with photo), a 300-500 word abstract (including title, sources, and main arguments of the paper), and contact information to Dr. Zhan Xin (zhanx262@nenu.edu.cn or Zhan98@yeah.net) before the end of April 2015. Those who pass the first round of selection will be notified by the end of May.

Full conference papers will be due (including paper titles and abstract in both Chinese and English) by the end of July.

Cost and Fee:
Participants will pay their own transportation to and from the conference; Northeast Normal University will pay for room/board during the conference.
