East Asia At the Crossroads

Former scholar Yeh-chung Lu co-authored a report on reconciliation strategies on the Korean peninsula the could help reduce cross-Strait tensions between China and Taiwan.

East Asia At the Crossroads

Former Wilson Center public policy scholar Yeh-Chung Lu has written an essay entitled "East Asia at the Crossroads: A comparative study of Taiwan's and Korea's Reconciliation with Adversaries" together with Byung Wang Park and Tung-chieh Tasai.  Published by the Korean Economic Institute of America, the paper assesses security as well as political issues facing the Korean Penninsula as well as Taiwan.  The authors look at historical influences since World War II and argue the growing economic interdependence and the political will of top leaders who wish to pursue peace will help "create a virtuous circle across the Taiwan Strait."  The full text is available at the KEIA website.

Yeh-chung Lu was a scholar with the Wilson Center in 2013.  He is currently an assistant professor in the department of diplomacy at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan.
