Launch of the Asia's Future Website

The methodology and details of the project

The objective of the Asia's Future project is to discover, analyze and generate new approaches and paradigms for safeguarding the environment that will transcend a single-sector approach to environmental trends as they relate to development and consider the more complete set of risks to and opportunities for Asia's future. The information collected at a series of roundtables catalyzed discussions at a larger workshop in January 2009 in Washington, DC and a session in Bangkok, Thailand in March 2009 to provide recommendations for investments that USAID and others should consider for the next two decades.

To synchronize with USAID's programming, this project focused on the countries of current environmental programming listed below while considering the recent restructuring of the Asia Bureau:

  • Bangladesh
  • Cambodia
  • China
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Myanmar
  • Nepal
  • Papua New Guinea
  • The Philippines
  • The Solomon Islands
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
