Marvin Kalb, broadcast journalist, author and founding director of Harvard's Joan Shorenstein Center, where he is now a Senior Fellow.

With academic credentials that led to doctoral candidacy Marvin Kalb went off on a state department assignment to the Soviet Union in the mid-1950s. A year later he was recruited by the legendary Edward R. Murrow of CBS for a journalistic career that would cover three decades and many major awards. Here, he talks of his life, the status of television journalism and his hopes for post communist Russia.
