Educating Tomorrow's Leaders

Mar 23, 2009 to Mar 29, 2009

Mary Brown Bullock – President Emerita, Agnes Scott College, Atlanta, Georgia

The history of education in America is largely written in superlatives. And the "jewel in the crown" of American education has been, for many decades, post secondary education. But now the leading role of these institutions is under pressure; threatened externally by the growth of quality education in other nations and internally by the needs of a large "untraditional" student body. Mary Brown Bullock, President Emerita of Agnes Scott College in Atlanta Georgia and currently a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center, takes up the question of whether American universities have the ability to make the changes needed to sustain their leading role.
