Middle East Peace: Reality or Illusion?

July 9, 2011

Aaron Miller spent two decades at the U.S. Department of State as an advisor to six Secretaries of State. He is now a Wilson Center Public Policy Scholar focusing on Palestinian and Israeli politics and relations and negotiations in the Middle East.

A commitment to what has come to be known as the Middle East peace process has been a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy for decades and yet significant efforts have yielded less than significant results. In his recent article, "The False Religion of Middle East Peace," Wilson Center scholar Aaron Miller presented a sober reflection on that lack of progress. He recently spent three weeks in the region. We will discover what he learned and if it has changed his mind about short and long term prospects for peace. Scheduled for rebroadcast starting September 1st, 2010 on MHz Worldview channel.
