The History of Russian Architecture

May 02, 2005 to May 08, 2005

William Brumfield, Professor of Russian Studies at Tulane University

The architecture of Russia is built with her soul. From the first gatherings of the tribes that would become Russia today, the churches, Palace estates and Monasteries of Russia have marked eras and symbolized themes. So much so that even the Commissars of the Soviet years sought their own style dreary and implacable as it was. William Brumfield conducts a tour of Russias history as depicted in her buildings.
