2nd Cross-Border Forum on Energy Issues

This forum marked the 2nd publication of the One Issue, Two Voices series, "Moving Toward Dialogue: Challenges in Canada-U.S. Energy Trade." The speakers and participants agreed that overall Canada – U.S. energy trade is operating smoothly but highlighted areas where more cooperation would increase productivity on both sides.

Overview

On September 27, the Canada Institute, with support from Enbridge, Inc., hosted a program to explore the current regulatory issues that affect Canada –U.S. energy trade. This event served as a starting point for discussion among key policymakers and industry leaders and as a venue to launch the Canada Institute's newest publication in its One Issue, Two Voices series. The publication, "Moving Toward Dialogue: Challenges in Canada-U.S. Energy Trade," includes essays by Daniel Yergin and Michael Zenker from Cambridge Energy Research Associates and Paul Ziff of Ziff Energy Group. Speakers at the event included Pat Daniel, President and CEO, Enbridge Inc; Red Cavaney, President and CEO, American Petroleum Institute; Greg Stringham, Vice-President, Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers; Kyle McSlarrow, Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of Energy and George Anderson, Deputy Minister, Natural Resources Canada. The speakers and participants agreed that overall Canada – U.S. energy trade is operating smoothly but highlighted areas where more cooperation would increase productivity on both sides.
