Overview

The Woodrow Wilson Center's Africa Program, the Search for Common Ground, and the International Center for Journalists invite you to a discussion about the innovative and creative ways that TV, radio, film, and online media are helping to change lives. We will be screening a recent PBS program about a dramatic TV series in Kenya, called The Team, which will eventually be produced in 18 countries. The Team in Kenya was developed in response to the devastating violence following the disputed presidential election of 2007. Aiming to educate and entertain, the series dramatizes how the young members of a newly formed soccer/football club struggle with overcoming tribal, ethnic, and socio-economic differences. A Palestinian production of The Team begins broadcast next week to coincide with the World Cup.
