Event Details

Romano Prodi served twice as the Prime Minister of Italy, as President of the European Commission in 1999, and currently chairs the United Nations-African Union panel on African Union peacekeeping operations.

In February 1995 Prodi founded the "Ulivo" coalition, was elected Prime Minister in April 1996, and served until October 1998. Prodi returned to Italian politics in 2005, and again served as Prime Minister from 2006-2008.

Prior to his involvement in politics, Prodi taught economics and industrial policy at the University of Bologna, and was also a visiting professor at Harvard University and the Stanford Research Institute.
