The Africa Program and Project on Leadership and Building State Capacity invite you to a briefing on recent developments affecting independent journalists in Zimbabwe, featuring Isabella Matambandadzo, a trustee of the Voice of the People, one of Zimbabwe’s few remaining independent radio stations. She will discuss sharply escalating government repression and intimidation against private media outlets.

Isabella Matambandadzo currently serves as Zimbabwe Program Manager for the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA), Secretary General of Transparency International – Zimbabwe and is spokesperson of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition. She was formerly Executive Director of the Zimbabwe Women’s Resource Center and Network, an organization dedicated to advancing economic opportunities for Zimbabwean women. As a journalist, she covered issues across Africa for Reuters as Senior Producer of Africa Journal, as well as for the Southern African Development Community’s Press Trust, the Inter Press Service (IPS), and the Zimbabwean Broadcasting Corporation.
