Africa-Related Fellowships and Internships at the Wilson Center
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars offers a number of residential fellowships for the study of Africa, and internship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. Unless otherwise noted, all awards are open to citizens of any country. Africa Program Internships
Africa Program Internships
Interns assist the Africa Program staff in its Washington area activities. This internship is open to graduate, undergraduate and recently graduated students, and may be paid or unpaid. Advanced oral and written French is required. Deadline for Summer 2009 is March 2, 2009
Summer Africa Research Internship
Provides undergraduate students an opportunity to spend three summer months in Washington D.C., working closely with an Africanist Doctoral Candidate Fellow. Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents, currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program.
Deadline for Summer 2009 is March 15, 2009.

Africanist Doctoral Candidate Fellowship
Provides an advanced graduate student an opportunity to spend three summer months in Washington D.C., based at the Wilson Center. Applicants must be American citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States, currently enrolled in a doctoral program, and have completed all academic requirements except the dissertation.
Deadline for Summer 2009 is March 15, 2009.
The Distinguished African Scholar Award
With support of the Open Society Institute (OSI), this award provides two distinguished African academics, senior diplomats and top policy makers an opportunity to spend up to six months in residency at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, D.C., to research and reflect on policy-related subjects of the scholar’s choosing.
The Open Society Institute (OSI) African Policy Scholar Award
This award is directed at providing emerging African leaders the opportunity to spend up to six months in Washington, D.C., to enhance their efforts of building more open societies and to facilitate resolving the varied challenges of African States.

Africanists are encouraged to apply for the the Wilson Center's international fellowship program, open to scholars in all fields of the humanities and social sciences.
