Spotlight on New Environmental and Energy Initiatives in China
Every year the China Environment Forum collects information on the environmental and energy work in China undertaken by U.S. government agencies, U.S. professional associations and universities, international NGOs and Chinese NGOs and student groups. This information is compiled in an extensive inventory published in each issue of the China Environment Series. We will start featuring updates on new projects that emerge throughout the year to better capture the dynamism of the growing environmental work in China.
EPA’s eeBuildings China Initiative: eeBuildings (energy-efficient buildings) is a voluntary market transformation initiative of the U.S Environmental Protection Agency to share lessons learned from the ENERGY STAR Buildings Program with developing countries. In China, eeBuildings is working with owners and managers of large commercial buildings to help them identify low- and no-cost measures that can immediately reduce building energy use, operating costs, and greenhouse gas emissions.
EMBARQ, the WRI Center for Transport and the Environment creates a partnership with the Shell Foundation, and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government to create a sustainable transport project in Shanghai.
Western Kentucky University’s Hoffman Institute initiates a new karst water work project in poor Miao minority area of Hunan Province.
