Biography
Kate Putnam is the Program Assistant for the Mexico Institute. Her interest areas in Mexico include the impact of democratization and decentralization on political institutions and inter-branch interactions in the federal government.
Prior to joining the Mexico Institute, Kate worked for Dr. Roderic Camp on a study examining the changing composition of leadership in Mexico and was part of the team under Dr. Rafael Fernández de Castro at ITAM organizing Vanguardia Latina, a conference in which young Latino and Latin American leaders debate and define the hemispheric agenda. She presented a paper on the role of corruption and nationalism in bilateral efforts in drug enforcement at the 2007 Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies Conference and produced a thesis on the impact of a more independent Mexican Congress on Mexican foreign policy.
