Spring 2010 Internships with the Middle East Program

October 01, 2009

Center Description
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is the living, national memorial to President Wilson established by Congress in 1968 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. It is a nonpartisan institution, supported by public and private funds, engaged in the study of national and world affairs. The Wilson Center establishes and maintains a neutral forum for free, open and informed dialogue. The Center commemorates the ideals and concerns of Woodrow Wilson by providing a link between the world of ideas and the world of policy. The Wilson Center fosters research, study, discussion, and collaboration among a broad spectrum of individuals concerned with policy and scholarship in national and world affairs.

Middle East Program
The Middle East Program was launched in February 1998 in light of the increased engagement of the United States in the region and to explore the profound changes the states in the region are experiencing. Rather than spotlighting day-to-day issues, the Program concentrates on long-term developments and how such issues impact stability and growth in the region and its relations with the United States. The Middle East Program's meetings, conferences and reports assess the policy implications of regional developments (political, economic, and social), the Middle East's role in the international arena, American interests in the region, strategic threats to and from the regional states, and the role and future prospects of the region's energy resources.

Internship Description
Interns will be assigned to work directly with the Middle East Program Staff in support of project activities for 20 hours per week. This is an unpaid internship. Duties will include:
