Amb. Andrés Rozental
President, Rozental & Asociados



Andrés Rozental is President of Rozental & Asociados and the former Mexican Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1995 to 1997. He was a career diplomat for more than 35 years, having served his country as Deputy Foreign Minister (1988-1994), Ambassador to Sweden (1983-88), Permanent Representative of México to the United Nations in Geneva (1982-83), as well as in various responsibilities within the Mexican Foreign Ministry and abroad. Since 1994, he holds the lifetime rank of Eminent Ambassador of México. Currently, Ambassador Rozental holds non-executive Board positions in several important multinational corporations in Spain, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and México. He is the President of his own consulting firm, Rozental & Asociados that specializes in advising multinational companies on their corporate strategies in Latin America.

Ambassador Rozental obtained his professional degree in international relations from the Universidad de las Américas in México and his MA in International Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author of three books on Mexican foreign policy and of numerous articles on international affairs. He has been a member of the Board of Foreign Affairs en Español and of the Universidad de las Américas, his alma mater. In June 2002, he was elected a member of the Board of the Stockholm-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and is currently its Vice Chair. He is also a Member of the Inter-American Dialogue and of the Pacific Council for International Policy.

In April 2007 he was appointed a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. Ambassador Rozental is also a Governor of Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC) and serves on the International Advisory Board of the Center for International Governance Initiative in Waterloo, Ontario. From December 1, 2000 to 31 December, 2001, Andrés Rozental served as Ambassador-at-large and special envoy for then President Vicente Fox. In 2006 and 2007 he advised Felipe Calderón on foreign policy issues. He was the founding President of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations (2001-2006) and currently chairs its Board of Trustees.
