Mexico Institute Re-Launches Mérida Initiative Portal, a Public Resource on U.S.-Mexico Security Cooperation

September 15, 2009

The Mexico Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars announced today the re-launch of its Mérida Initiative web portal (www.wilsoncenter.org/merida), a resource for researchers, journalists, policymakers, and the general public on the most significant bi-national security cooperation program ever undertaken between Mexico and the United States.

The new portal contains original analysis by Wilson Center staff and scholars and dozens of official documents and reports about the Mérida Initiative, including recent publications by the Congressional Research Service, the Government Accountability Office, and the Department of State.

The Mexico Institute is committed to providing updated information and analysis on both the Mérida Initiative and the growing security cooperation agenda between Mexico and the United States. As part of this commitment, the Mexico Institute will partner over the next 18 months with the Trans-Border Institute at the University of San Diego to undertake extensive and original research on key issues in the bi-national security cooperation agenda. Products from this research partnership will be regularly posted to the portal, in addition to other items, including government documents and outside analysis and reports.

For any questions regarding the re-launched Mérida Initiative portal or regarding the security cooperation work of the Mexico Institute, please contact Eric Olson, Senior Adviser for the Mexico Institute’s Security Initiative, at ericolson58@msn.com or Robert Donnelly, Mexico Institute Program Associate, at robert.donnelly@wilsoncenter.org.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is the living national memorial to President Wilson established by Congress in 1968 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. It is a nonpartisan institution, supported by public and private funds, engaged in the study of national and world affairs.
