European Studies is pleased to welcome Title VIII-supported summer research scholar Costica Bradatan - Associate Professor in the Honors College at Texas Tech University. Bradatan’s research at the Center aims to illustrate how the concept of “dying for an idea” has the potential to shape intellectual history and the dissemination of knowledge.

The European Studies program is now accepting applications for its Junior Scholars' Training Seminar - a scholarship opportunity for graduate students (MA and above) working towards a degree in the social sciences and humanities with a regional focus on Central and Eastern Europe, including the Baltic states. The application deadline has been extended until May 18, 2012.

Radio Free Europe began regular broadcasts from Munich sixty years ago with a news program by its Czechoslovak department. To mark this anniversary, the Collegium Carolinum, together with the Czech Centre, and the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes held the conference "Voices of Freedom – Western Interference? 60 Years of Radio Free Europe in Munich and Prague."
