The Kennan Institute is accepting applications for the 2007 Title VIII Research Workshop Series on "International Development Assistance in the Post-Soviet Space." The Workshop Series is designed to serve as a forum in which junior scholars (pre-tenure), who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, from a variety of disciplines discuss different aspects of development assistance programs, share research findings, and provide policy recommendations. Applications are due on January 1, 2007

The Kennan Institute, the Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights, and the New Eurasia Foundation held a closed roundtable discussion on National Security and Human Rights in Moscow, Russia, on June 29, 2006, on the eve of the G8 Summit in Saint Petersburg. This forum brought together more than twenty leading experts from G8 countries, including members of academia, law, public policy, government, nongovernmental organizations, civil society, human rights advocacy, and journalism.
