Web and Social Media Intern Opportunity
The Global Women’s Leadership Initiative is seeking an energetic and creative intern to help support our growing web presence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit communications, social media, web maintenance, and journalism to contribute to the goals of the Initiative and learn about women in leadership positions. Please note: this position is unpaid.
Intern Responsibilities Include:
- Finding, curating and sharing social media content for our facebook and twitter channels.
- Monitoring and engaging GWLI supporters and partners through social media channels.
- Researching and writing relevant original content for the GWLI’s websites
- Updating and managing contact databases;
- Administrative tasks as needed;
- Supporting the Council’s outreach and communications operations;
- Assisting with content management of website;
- Supporting Council staff as requested;
- Other tasks as may be assigned.
Successful applicants should: 1) have strong research and/or administrative skills; 2) be skilled in major social networking sites, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. ; 3) be able to work independently and collectively as part of group; 4) possess the ability to synthesize research and analyze information; 5) have strong interpersonal communication, writing, and editing skills; 6) have an excellent command of Microsoft Office Software (to include WORD, EXCEL, PUBLISHER, and OUTLOOK); and, be currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree program or a recent graduate (within the last year).

Hours and Location: We are ideally looking for a full-time intern, but ask for a minimum commitment of 15 - 20 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. The Wilson Center/Council is located in the Ronald Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC.
