The Impact of Trade Liberalization on Poverty Reduction

This spring, the Africa Program joined The Program on Science, Technology, America and the Global Economy to sponsor a day-long conference on the impact of free trade on improving living conditions in the developing world.

Dialogue Radio and Television

Dialogue television and radio programs streamed over the internet from the Wilson Center's Award-winning Dialogue series. These programs feature leading policymakers and scholars commenting current issues relating to Africa and the African diaspora.Dialogue Radio programming airs on local stations across the country. Television programming is broadcast in the Washington, DC area via the MHz channel, and can also be found nationally on the DISH satellite network. Election Observation Missions: Making them Count

International election observation is a work in progress, much like the international democratic system it aims to promote and develop. Today election observation is disproportionately focused on the pre-election and election periods at the expense of the post-election period. International organizations, national governments, and civil society are familiar with what is expected both before and during an election. Election “practices” exist and an international set of principles is now emerging to guide international elections observers both before and during elections.
