Conference Report: 10th Annual LSE-GWU-UCSB Graduate Conference on the Cold War

On 19-21 April 2012, the LSE IDEAS Cold War Studies Programme (CWSP) hosted the 10th Annual LSE-GWU-UCSB Graduate Conference on the Cold War which showcased the work of 23 Ph.D. students from across the world. Speakers included Gregg Brazinsky, Holger Nehring, Roham Alvandi, Anne Deighton, James Ellison, Matt Jones, David Priestland and IDEAS co-director Arne Westad.

NPIHP Partner Hosts Conference on Brazil's and Argentina's Nuclear History

NPIHP partners at the Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV) recently hosted a critical oral history conference on the Brazilian and Argentine nuclear programs. The conference discussions suggest that scholars may need to re-evaluate the standard historical narrative which portrays Brazil and Argentina as nuclear rivals who became partners following the end of military rule in both countries.
