Project Summary
investigation of the role that mutual perceptions and misunderstandings played during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vienna Summit, and the lessons which both sides seem to have learned from this historical experience. Comparison of how the two leaderships came to rely upon certain misinformation which was produced by influential institutions and advisors during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Assessment of the implications of such comparisons for Soviet-American relations, in light of changing conditions of their political cultures.
