Dr. Kihl-Jae Ryoo is the Republic of Korea’s Minister of Unification. A Professor at the University of North Korean Studies, Seoul, Dr. Ryoo is also President of the Korean Association of North Korean Studies.

Prior to his appointment as Minister, Dr. Ryoo served as a Policy Advisor to the Ministry of Unification (2009-2013), Standing Council Member of the National Unification Advisory (2003-2005, 2009-2011), and Policy Advisor for the President on Foreign Affairs and National Security (2008-2011). He earned his Ph.D., M.A., and B.A., all in political science, from Korea University.
