Project Summary

Examines the three academic schools whose theories have been obliterated: 1) Russian Culturology, 2) N. Marr’s New Study of Language, and 3) the Bakhtin Circle’s system of ideologies. Restores the validity of these theories, offering and explanation of the epistemological ramifications for the study of the humanities. Addresses the dynamics of historical development in culture and the theoretical treatment of this process from the perspective of dialogic reply-exchange between the monolythic and pluralistic modes of thinking. Keyword: Russian intellectual culture.
