Jun 01, 1997

Project Summary

Employs the life of the nihilist critic/activist Dmitrii Pisarev (1840-1868) to reconsider the history of the Russian revolutionary movement. Looks at the cultural process by which activists and intellectuals fashioned a new political identity, a new type of individual, and a new subculture (Russian radicalism).
