Susan Chan Shifflett
Susan Chan Shifflett is program associate at the Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum where she focuses on China's water, energy, and food. Prior to joining the Wilson Center, Susan was a junior associate at The Asia Foundation's Women's Empowerment Program. As a graduate student, she interned at the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Food Security, assisting in communications products for Feed The Future. From 2007-2010, she lived in Beijing where she served as a research assistant at China’s Center of Disease Control and Prevention working on NIH-funded projects researching high-risk HIV/AIDS populations in China’s southwestern Yunnan Province. Susan received a MA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.S. in Biology from Yale University. Susan is professionally proficient in Mandarin.
