Gadi
Wolfsfeld chairs the Department of Communication at Hebrew University, where
he holds a joint appointment in political science and communication. Wolfsfeld
has held visiting positions in the Department of Political Science at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (1985-86), the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy
at Tufts University (1985-86), and the Department of Sociology at Boston College
(1992-93). He is a former director of the Smart Family Institute for Communication
Research and a former fellow at the Shorenstein Center for the Study of Press/Politics
at Harvard University. Wolfsfeld has received grants and fellowships from the
Tami Steinmetz Center for Peace Research (1995-96), the Israeli Ministry of
Science and the Arts (1995-97), and the Truman Institute for Peace (1996-98).
He also co-chairs the Political Communication Research Committee of the International
Political Science Association and serves on the editorial boards of several
journals in media and politics. He is the author of Media and Political Conflict:
News from the Middle East and Fair Weather Friend: The Varying Role of
the News Media in the Arab-Israeli Peace Process. Wolfsfeld holds a Ph.D.
in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
