Esther D. Brimmer
Esther Brimmer joined the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict as a senior associate in June 1995. From 1993-1995, she served as special assistant to the under secretary of state for Political Affairs. From 1991-1993, she was the foreign affairs and defense analyst with the Democratic Study Group (DSG) in the U.S. House of Representatives. She was an associate with the New York office of the global management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, from 1989-1991. While completing her doctorate, she worked as a researcher/writer for the 21st Century Trust in London. She received her master's and Ph.D. in international relations from the University of Oxford in 1985 and 1989 respectively. She received her B.A. in international relations from Pomona College in 1983.
