Ambassador E. Anthony Wayne Named Public Policy Fellow at Wilson Center's Mexico Institute

The Mexico Institute, at the Wilson Center, is pleased to welcome E. Anthony Wayne, former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, as a Public Policy Fellow. While at the Wilson Center, Ambassador Wayne will co-lead the soon-to-be launched Wilson Center project on North American cooperation and competitiveness.

Earl Anthony Wayne was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2010 as a Career Ambassador, joining a select group of exceptionally distinguished U.S. diplomats. From 2011 through July 2015, Wayne served as the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, where he helped establish the U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue. Prior to that, he served as Deputy U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan and as Ambassador to Argentina. From 2000-2006, Wayne was Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs.

“Ambassador Wayne brings gravitas, depth of perspective and years of experience to our work on North America here at the Wilson Center,” said Duncan Wood, Director of the Mexico Institute. “During his time as Ambassador in Mexico, he was involved in numerous trilateral initiatives, most importantly the Toluca North American Leaders Summit in 2014, which set ambitious goals for regional cooperation. We are delighted and honored to have him help develop our North American initiative.”

“I am very enthused to be here at the Wilson Center helping to bring attention to the importance of the relationships that we have with our two North American neighbors, on issues from economics to security to the environment,” said Ambassador Wayne.
