CWIHP Research Assistant Momchil Metodiev Publishes New Book <i>Between Faith and Compromise</i>
The Cold War International History Project is pleased to announce the publication of Between Faith and Compromise (2010) by former Wilson Center research assistant Momchil Metodiev. Metodiev's latest book examines the influence of KGB and its Bulgarian intelligence affiliate - Durzhavna Sigurnost - on the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in turning it into a conduit of Soviet propaganda in organizations such as the World Council of Churches and the Conference of European Churches in the 1960s and 1970s. Metodiev's findings rest on extensive research in the archive of the Bulgarian Communist Party. A review of Metodiev's monograph appeared in FrontPage Maganize.
