Latin American Program in the News: Dialogue with the FARC should speed up to retain credibility (Santos’ brother)

WASHINGTON — Los diálogos de paz del gobierno de Colombia con la guerrilla de las FARC deben agilizarse para evitar que pierdan credibilidad, advirtió este miércoles el periodista Enrique Santos Calderón, hermano del presidente colombiano, Juan Manuel Santos.

Santos Calderón, quien participó en la fase preliminar del diálogo con la principal guerrilla del país y la más antigua de América Latina, reconoció "signos de progreso" en las negociaciones que se adelantan en La Habana, durante un evento en el centro de análisis Woodrow Wilson en Washington.

El exdirector del diario El Tiempo se mostró preocupado por "el ritmo de las conversaciones, que tiene que fluir más, debe moverse", porque "si no la sensación de que esto es algo distinto se va a evaporar".

Desde que se iniciaron las negociaciones en noviembre de 2012 en La Habana "no se ha comenzado ni siquiera a profundizar el primer punto agrario, que tiene seis subpuntos", dijo.
