Documents obtained by NKIDP scholar Bernd Schaefer from former East German archives were prominently featured in articles by Donga Ilbo and Chosun Ilbo. The articles highlight the East German attitudes towards Kim Jong Il's succession in the early 1970s, drawing a parallel between the events some 36 years ago with the current question of Kim Jong Un's succession. Both articles noted the significance of these documents in understanding the political evolution of the North Korean regime.
