Latin American Program in the News: "Se inicia con dos estudios sobre 'el problema de las drogas en Guatemala'"

The Foreign Ministry of Guatemala has announced that work will begin this week on two studies by Latin American Program scholars, coordinated by Global Fellow Juan Carlos Garzón. This article is in Spanish.

En apoyo al funcionamiento de la Comisión Nacional para la Reforma de la Política de Drogas, esta semana se iniciaron las actividades de investigadores del Woodrow Wilson Center, que realizarán durante los próximos meses dos estudios sobre el problema de las drogas en Guatemala. 

El experto colombiano Juan Carlos Garzón, del Woodrow Wilson Center, será el coordinador de ambos estudios, los cuales se enfocarán en analizar la estructura normativa y la aplicación de la legislación sobre drogas a nivel nacional, así como en investigar acerca de variables relativas a la oferta y demanda de drogas en el país. Los insumos recolectados y los resultados de los estudios serán provechosos y relevantes para las deliberaciones y discusiones de la Comisión en el cumplimiento de su mandato.
