White House Appoints Joseph B. Gildenhorn to Wilson Center Board of Trustees

Washington, D.C.---The President has appointed Joseph B. Gildenhorn to be a
member of the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars for the remainder of a six-year term expiring October 23, 2006, and with this appointment has designated him as chairman.

Gildenhorn served as United States ambassador to Switzerland from 1989 to 1993. He is a founding partner with the JBG Companies, a real estate development and management company in Washington, D.C. Gildenhorn and his wife Alma have been dedicated members of the Wilson Council, the Center's private sector advisory board, for more than three years.

"I am honored to continue my involvement with this great organization through this appointment to the Wilson Center's Board of Trustees. In today's new international environment, the Wilson Center's commitment to dialogue and research is perhaps more important than ever in helping develop public policies that meet the new challenges we face as a nation and as a global partner," said Gildenhorn.

The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is the living, national memorial to President Wilson established by Congress in 1968 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Center establishes and maintains a neutral forum for free, open, and informed dialogue. It is a nonpartisan institution, supported by public and private funds and engaged in the study of national and world affairs.
