Janelle Wong, Class of 2007

Former Wilson Center Fellow Janelle Wong has recently published her new book, Immigrants, Evangelicals, and Politics in an Era of Demographic Change. She worked on the book while a fellow at the center in 2006-2007.

This book demonstrates that immigrant evangelicals are neither “natural” Republicans nor “natural” Democrats. By examining the changing demographics of the evangelical movement, Immigrants, Evangelicals, and Politics in an Era of Demographic Change sheds light on an understudied constituency that has yet to find its political home.

Janelle Wong received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University in 2001, and is a professor of Political Science and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Her earlier publishing includes her 2006 book, Democracy's Promise: Immigrants and American Civic Institutions.
