Andrea Bartoli is director of the International Conflict Resolution Program at Columbia University.

Sant’ Egidio began in Rome in 1968 as a Catholic lay order serving the poor. Since then it has branched out into peace negotiations and helped bring an end to conflict in Mozambique. Andrea Bartoli describes the philosophy and action of this dynamic group.
