Belarus is sandwiched between Russia and the EU, both geographically and politically trapped between Russian dominance and European neglect. How does Belarusian society view its place in the world as a result? Professors Ioffe and Manaev drew on data from a series of national surveys to discuss popular sentiment concerning Belarus’ foreign policy. In particular, they analyzed its trend towards isolationism and current prospects for maintaining and strengthening Belarusian statehood despite a persistent geopolitical tug-of-war.
