Land of Many Palaces--Film Screening for the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital

The China Environment Forum is once again hosting a China-focused film as part of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital. This year we are excited to screen a film about Ordos, China's largest "ghost city" which has become the testing ground for an unprecedented plan, designed by the central government, to relocate 250 million farmers to new urban districts all across China, over 15 years. Ordos is one of the first cities to be built to house relocated farmers. The Land of Many Palaces follows a government official whose job is to convince these farmers that their lives will be better off in the city, and a farmer in one of the last remaining villages in the region who is pressured to move.

NOTE: This is a public event and we will not be accepting RSVPs. Seating will be on a first come-first serve basis, so please arrive early to ensure seating.
