Green Ports: New Front for China’s War on Pollution and Climate Change Mitigation

Seven of the world’s 10 largest and busiest container ports are located in China. These booming ports serve as the engines of China’s economic growth, but they also bring serious pollution problems to coastal cities. Long unregulated in China, shipping emissions have since become a new “front” in the war on air pollution and climate change. China’s new air pollution law mandates emissions targets for ships and port vehicles and China’s Ministry of Transport has developed an Action Plan on Shipping and Ports Pollution Control, as well as implementation schemes for key river deltas.

Wild Laws: China and Its Role in Illicit Wildlife Trade

Picture your typical farm: Pigs, cows, chickens, goats…and tigers? This may sound far-fetched, but many iconic wild animals – including tigers, bears, and rhinos – are now farmed en masse in China.

Sustainable Fishing and Ocean Preservation

The 3rd annual “Fishackathon” will take place on Earth Day weekend (April 22-24), with results from the event scheduled to be announced on World Oceans Day (June 8, 2016). Participants will create applications and tools for a sustainable fishery issue that is internationally focused. In anticipation of the event, we asked two of the Wilson Center’s leading experts to provide a briefing on sustainable fishing and ocean preservation. That’s the focus of this edition of  Wilson Center NOW.

The English version of the ten principles is available for download below.
