The Wilson Center's European Studies Program is now accepting applications for the EES Short-term Grant competition, which is open to academic experts and practitioners, including advanced graduate students, engaged in specialized research requiring access to Washington, DC and its research institutions. Grants are for one month and include residence at the Wilson Center. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, in order to be considered eligible for this grant opportunity. The new digital archive ("D-Archive") of the Ukrainian Center for Research on the Liberation Movement (CDVR) allows for free access over the Internet to more than ten thousand digitized copies of documents from Ukrainian archives.

The Wilson Center today launched a new Digital Archive of declassified official documents from nearly 100 different archives in dozens of different countries that provide fresh, unprecedented insights into the history of international relations and diplomacy.The new website features uniquely powerful new search tools, an intuitive user-interface, and new educational resources such as timelines, analysis from leading experts, and biographies of significant historical figures.

Today’s nuclear policy challenges have deep roots in the past. Hence, international history of nuclear weapons proliferation does have the potential to play a role in aiding policy-making. Towards this goal, following the invitation of the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich, NPIHP partners, experts and policy people from all around the world traveled to Vienna, Austria, on February 1, 2013, for a one-day workshop. The participants had the opportunity to discuss the results of the historical research conducted so far within the project and work towards better understanding the wider implications of historical work for the policy context. The meeting greatly benefited from the gracious hosting by NPIHP's partners at the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP).
