The Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS) in southern Ohio was the last of three plants built to enrich military-grade uranium in the United States. Since the end of the Cold War, the plant has been decommissioned, and in 2006, it began the process of decontamination. This film, Vision: The PORTSfuture Projects, documents the efforts of PORTSfuture, a community outreach program funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and supported by a local citizens’ advisory board, to engage local citizens in decontamination, decommissioning, and remediation decisions that will affect the future uses of the site.
