Elizabeth de Carvalhaes is the current executive-president of the Brazilian Pharmaceutical Research Industry Association (Interfarma). She joined Interfarma in 2018.

Previously, she served as executive-president of the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá), and led the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Association (Bracelpa) for almost seven years. Bracelpa was one of four entities that merged to form Ibá in 2014. Carvalhaes has served on a number of international forums as well, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the International Council of Forest and Paper Associations, of which she held the presidency from 2015 to 2017.

She started her career at Volkswagen do Brasil and was vice-president of the National Automobile Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). 

Carvalhaes holds a Ph.D. in German Language and Literature from the University of Vienna, and a B.A. from the University of São Paulo.
