Full Biography

Dr. Hu Tao is Senior Adviser of WWF China and Adjunct Professor at Beijing Normal University. He also serves as Chairman of the Professional Association for China’s Environment and is the Vice-President of the Union of Chinese Professional Organizations. He directed the WWF-US China Program for 5 years and WRI’s China Outbound Investment Group for nearly two years. He was the Academic Chair and Senior Fellow of Policy Research Center of China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection. He was a visiting professor at the Center for Asia and Pacific Studies at the University of Oregon. He also served as the Chief Expert of Trade and Environment Expert Group for WTO Doha Round Negotiation for MEP. He served as a member of the Lead Expert Group for the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development during 2001-2007. Dr. Hu’s research covers environmental economics, policy and governance, trade, investment and environment, globalization. Across many of his positions Dr. Hu has specialized in co-control of air pollutants and greenhouse gasses.
