Jake Schmidt, Managing Director, International Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), has over twenty years of experience in international policy. He directs NRDC’s International Program with a team of over 60 experts working to address climate change and spur clean energy, protect nature and wildlife, and promote healthy people and thriving communities in China, India, Canada, Latin America, and at the international level. Prior to joining NRDC, Schmidt worked at the Center for Clean Air Policy where he directed their international efforts, including a dialogue with senior climate negotiators from over 30 countries to develop proposals for the post-2012 international response to climate change, research in four key developing countries on their emission reduction strategies, and proposals for the EU’s climate response for the post-2012 period. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Muhlenberg College and a M.P.P. in environmental policy, with a certificate in ecological economics from the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland.
