Project Summary

Describes the attempt of some sisterhoods to form agricultural communes acceptable to the government, only to be dissolved in the late 1920s. Describes the rivival of various convents during wartime, and their subsequent closure by Nikita Khrushev. Details the governmental action by which convents were forced to close during the various periods of intense governmental pressure.
