The Mexico Institute is pleased to invite you to the presentation of a new book by Guillermo Valdés Castellanos, The History of Drug Trafficking in Mexico (La historia del narcotráfico en Mexico). Mr. Valdés will present an inventory of the people involved in drug trafficking organizations and the mechanisms they have employed to build their networks. A thorough understanding of the historical underpinnings of criminal activity will allow for better policy responses to current security issues, such as the recent security developments in the state of Michoacán.
