The Mexico Institute seeks to increase understanding, communication, and cooperation between the United States and Mexico through the active discussion of issues relevant to both countries. The Institute encourages the exchange of ideas among policymakers, scholars, journalists and business and civic leaders by analyzing the developments of each country in relation to the impact they have on each other. A binational Advisory Board, chaired by José Antonio Fernández Carbajal and Roger W. Wallace, oversees the work of the Mexico Institute.
Launched in January 2007, The U.S.-Mexico Congressional Initiative aims to promote understanding and communication on bilateral issues between the two congresses.
The Mexico Institute and the Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales co-sponsor the Mexico Public Policy Scholars Program. Applications for the July-December 2008 Scholars Program are available, see announcement below for further details.

Winners of Journalism Fellowship Announced
The Washington Post and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars announce the first group of winners of their Fellowship for Latin America Journalists program. The winners are: Jorge Carrasco, Proceso (Mexico); Alfonso Cuéllar, Semana (Colombia); Luciana Franco, Revista Globo Rural (Brazil); Maurizio Guerrero, PODER y Negocios (Mexico) and Flavia Tavares, O Estado de S Paulo (Brazil).
Wilson Center Honored Don Eugenio Garza Lagüera
On February 19th, 2008 the Woodrow Wilson Center's Mexico Institute presented Don Eugenio Garza Lagüera with the award for Corporate Citizenship. The award was presented at a benefit dinner at Club Industrial de Monterrey. Eduardo Cepeda, President and General Director of J.P. Morgan Mexico and Lorenzo Zambrano, CEO of CEMEX served as dinner chairmen.

Mexico Institute Sponsors Cross-Border Journalism Conference
On October 7-8, 2007 the Woodrow Wilson Center, the University of Texas at El Paso, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, the Comité por el Premio de Periodismo Nacional and Sam Donaldson of ABC News hosted Journalism Across Borders, a conference convening editors, news directors, and senior journalists from Mexico and the United States in El Paso, Texas to discuss the challenges of covering each other’s country and the border region.
Mexico Institute takes Congressional Delegation on Study Tour of Mexico City
Members of Congress Howard Berman, D-CA; Zoe Lofgren, D-CA; Steve King, R-IA; Ciro Rodriguez, D-TX and Lois Capps, D-CA and senior advisor to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Dean Aguillen joined the Mexico Insitute for a three-day trip to Mexico City.
