CWIHP Director Christian Ostermann will chair a panel at the upcoming conference Fateful Eights in Czech History, sponsored by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington and the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University.

The 23-24 October conference will explore the foundation of the first Czechoslovak Republic in 1918, its destruction at the 1938 Munich Conference, the communist takeover in 1948, and the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia.

The two-day conference will include a number of scholars connected to the Cold War International History Project, including CWIHP advisory committee member Sharon Wolchik, CWIHP Senior Scholar Hope Harrison, and CWIHP Public Policy Scholar Vladislav Zubok.
