CWIHP is pleased to announce the publication of the latest addition to the CWIHP Working Papers Series, Working Paper #62, The Soviet Pavilion at Brussels '58: Convergence, Conversion, Critical Assimilation, or Transculturation? by Susan E. Reid.

Using recently declassified documents from the Russian archives, cultural historian Susan Reid explores the Cold War from a new perspective: the battle for supremacy at the 1958 World Fair in Brussels. The paper describes the Soviet attempts to present an new image of the Soviet Union on the world stage - one that made use of recent Soviet technological advancements.

Susan E. Reid is Professor of Russian Visual Culture at the University of Sheffield, where she teaches Soviet visual culture, Modern Russian art, Movements in Russian Culture: Realism, Modernism and beyond, etc. She is the author or co-editor of several books and articles in international journals.
